Edison Smart Continues to Commit to Community Support with 'Selfless Days' Initiative

August 2024

Basingstoke, UK — Edison Smart is proud to announce its ‘Selfless Days’ initiative for 2024, a three-day series of community-focused volunteer events designed to give back to the local community. From Tuesday, August 20th to Thursday, August 22nd, Edison Smart employees will be dedicating their time and efforts to support The Camrose Centre and Maple Ridge Primary School in Basingstoke.

Day 1: Supporting the Homeless at The Camrose Centre

On Tuesday, August 20th, Edison Smart volunteers will head to The Camrose Centre, located in Church Square, Basingstoke, to assist with lunch service for the homeless. The team will arrive at 9:30 AM, ready to set up the room, prepare and cook a hearty sausage casserole with mash, serve tea, engage in conversations with visitors, and help with the clean-up and packing away after lunch. The Camrose Centre plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable members of the community, and Edison Smart is honoured to contribute to this cause.

Day 2: Project Support at Maple Ridge Primary School

On Wednesday, August 21st, the Edison Smart team will turn their attention to Maple Ridge Primary School, located on Maple Crescent, Basingstoke. Volunteers will arrive at 9:00 AM to assist with various school projects. The team is ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved, with some members bringing their gardening tools to help with outdoor sensory projects.

Our Internal Head of Talent Acquisition has a daughter at the school. Edison Smart offered up a ‘wellness day’ originally back in 2022 where all staff members visited Maple Ridge to paint two classrooms and overhaul their sensory garden. It was an emotional day and gave the team a real insight into the funding challenges of SEN schools and the additional support the children need.

Following this, Edison formally partnered with Maple Ridge to continuously support the school with more maintenance tasks, laptop donations and financial aid.

This will be our third-year volunteering at Maple Ridge and it won’t be the last!

Day 3: Returning to The Camrose Centre

The final day of Edison Smart’s ‘Selfless Days’ will see the team returning to The Camrose Centre on Thursday, August 22nd. The activities will mirror those of the first day, with volunteers once again arriving at 9:30 AM to assist with meal preparation, tea service, and the overall lunchtime experience for the centre’s visitors. The consistency of support across these days’ highlights Edison Smart’s ongoing commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Edison Smart’s Commitment to Community

“At Edison Smart, we believe that giving back to the community is not just a responsibility, but a privilege,” said Ben Wallin, Co-Director at Edison Smart. “Our ‘Selfless Days’ are an opportunity for our team to step out of the office and make a direct, positive impact on the lives of those around us.
