FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
31 July 2025
Basingstoke, UK – Edison Smart is proud to reaffirm its commitment to social responsibility with the return of its deeply valued ‘Selfless Days’ initiative. Four dedicated days of giving back to the local community, filled with teamwork, empathy, and practical hands-on support.
From Monday, July 28th to Thursday, July 31st, Edison Smart team members stepped away from their desks and into local organisations that are making a real difference in the community: The Safe, The Camrose Centre, and Cold Ash School.
Day 1: Supporting Families at The Safe
Kicking off the week, Edison Smart volunteers visited The Safe, a community-led charity that supports families, parents, and expectant parents with counselling, playgroups, clothes, and essential provisions.
With sleeves rolled up, the team reorganised vital donations, created a new private meeting space for personal counselling sessions, and refreshed the outdoor areas to offer a safe and welcoming space for children and families.

Day 2: Serving With Compassion at The Camrose Centre
On Tuesday, volunteers gathered at The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke, which offers essential support to people facing and experiencing homelessness.
From 9:30 AM, the team worked together to transform the space, setting up tables, preparing a hot meal of sausage casserole and mash, serving tea, offering conversation and companionship, and tidying up afterwards. For Edison Smart, it was more than a meal, it was a moment of human connection.

Day 3: Hands-On Help at Cold Ash School
Moved by the rising costs schools face, the Edison Smart team dedicated Day 3 to Cold Ash School, where they took on a physical yet fulfilling task: distributing bark across the playground, saving the school a considerable expense. Once complete, the team continued with gardening and DIY projects to help prepare the school grounds for the upcoming academic year.
“Many, many thanks for everything you and your team did for us yesterday. School budgets are really tight so volunteering working party days really make a difference. Please pass on my thanks again to the whole team.” – Mitch Warrender, Headteacher
Day 4: A Return to The Camrose Centre
To close the week, the team returned to The Camrose Centre on Thursday, August 22nd, mirroring the earlier visit with another day of kindness, consistency, and care. Meal preparation, tea service, and conversation remained the heart of the experience, reminding all involved of the power of human connection and presence.
A Message from Leadership
“Community is at the heart of everything we do at Edison Smart,” said Ben Wallin, Co-Founder at Edison Smart. “Our Selfless Days are more than just a company initiative; they’re a reflection of our values in action. By stepping into the spaces where support is needed most, we aim to make a meaningful and lasting impact. Supporting organisations like The Camrose Centre, The Safe, and Cold Ash School is a true privilege, and we’re honoured to stand alongside the volunteers who do such incredible work every single day. We also hope our involvement helps shine a light on their efforts and inspires more local businesses to get involved. We remain committed to building stronger communities and look forward to continuing this tradition of giving back.”
