AT&T, in collaboration with its technology partner Ericsson, has launched a new digital marketplace aimed at simplifying IoT for businesses. The AT&T IoT Marketplace is designed to make it easy for companies to purchase, manage, and monetise IoT services.
The new ecommerce platform provides a centralised hub for selling, contracting, and billing IoT solutions. It aims to accelerate adoption across key industries such as transportation, manufacturing, and healthcare, which represent a growth area for AT&T’s business offerings.
For years, businesses looking to deploy IoT solutions have faced challenges including convoluted integration processes, fragmented product catalogues, and inconsistent order management systems. The sheer variety of devices and technologies – frequently combined with interfaces that are far from user-friendly – has created a high barrier to entry, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses.
The AT&T IoT Marketplace directly addresses these pain points by unifying these elements into a single interface. This approach is intended to simplify the onboarding process for both customers and ecosystem partners, creating a more cohesive experience. For businesses using the platform, the process promises more scalable operations and a faster order-to-cash cycle, leading to quicker revenue generation and improved operational efficiency.
Powering this new venture is Ericsson’s technology stack, including its Digital Experience Platform, Catalog Manager, and Order Care solutions. The entire marketplace is a turnkey platform built on a modern cloud-native microservices architecture and is hosted on Microsoft Azure’s cloud infrastructure.
This solid foundation ensures the platform can provide secure and intelligent interactions across various digital touchpoints and enables seamless, catalogue-driven engagement. With sophisticated management capabilities for customers and partners, alongside simplified product configuration, the marketplace is set to boost efficiency within the IoT ecosystem.
Cameron Coursey, VP of Connected Solutions at AT&T, said: “The AT&T IoT Marketplace differentiates our offerings and meets a wide range of customer and partner requirements. We are eager to collaborate with IoT ecosystem partners who share our vision of making IoT more accessible and driving growth, particularly among small and medium businesses.
“With Ericsson’s solution, we now possess the agility and scalability necessary to simplify IoT for our customers. The platform has enabled us to reduce the time to order fleet management services from hours to minutes.”
This collaboration deepens the longstanding relationship between the two technology giants. By focusing on the user experience, they aim to unlock greater value from every interaction on the platform.
Anand Akundi, Head of Cloud Software and Services, AT&T Customer Unit at Ericsson, commented: “Ericsson and AT&T have created a seamless and personalised experience for users and partners across all channels. This is key to unlocking the full potential of every interaction and driving business growth.
“We are thrilled to support AT&T’s ambition to excel in the IoT segment in this country. The launch of the AT&T IoT Marketplace marks a significant step forward in transforming the IoT landscape, providing businesses with the tools and capabilities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.”
