19th May 2022 | Edison Search

The Co-Founders, Ben Wallin and Dan Cox, started their recruitment journey a long time before Edison Search was born. They worked together for 10 years at an international IT recruitment agency in London. It was here they focused on advanced technology markets such as online video/streaming, 4G/5G and automotive. Their keen interest in future-tech markets, wealth of experience and infectious entrepreneurial spirit always meant that owning, running, and scaling their own business was ‘the dream’

So convinced were Ben and Dan that there was a gap in the market, they decided to launch an entire business, from scratch, focused on their belief that IoT eco system would change the world.

Like many, Covid accelerated Ben and Dan’s plans. They always had the burning ambition to build their own business, but the timing had to be right. They also felt there would be a ‘market backlash’ where many tech companies would ramp-up hiring efforts having been cautious during the early months of the pandemic. Now, these companies were in catch-up mode and Edison Search could capitalise on this.

So, in a two-man office in Reading, Berkshire, Edison Search was born. This progressed to hiring two Delivery Consultants, then another and incredibly as they approach their first birthday, they have a strong team of 15 loyal employees. Despite Edison Search being an unknown entity in recruitment circles, they have managed to attract employees by clearly conveying their vision for the business and engaging prospects with their obvious enthusiasm and unyielding determination. It is paramount that employees feel validated, valued, and empowered.

At its core, Edison Search places a huge value on staff’s mental health and wellbeing. The team is actively encouraged to make time for themselves, so to establish a healthy work-life balance. Not only do they frequently run initiatives that focus and promote positive mental wellbeing but company wide wellness days are organised throughout the year; they recognise just how intense and demanding the industry can be. Edison Search also operates on a hybrid working model. ‘Flex Friday’s’ offers employees the opportunity to work wherever is best for them every Friday. Ben and Dan both believe this is vital to meet the demands, post Covid, of employees wanting more flexibility.

Staff progression and continuous development is also a top priority. Edison Search’s’ first two employees have already transitioned into more senior positions. Ben and Dan find this one of the most rewarding things about owning Edison Search. Seeing employee confidence grow and people excelling is an amazing journey to be apart of.

So far, Edison Search has placed over 100 candidates with around 40 brands, globally. Their journey has begun at a blistering pace, and this is just the start. Their belief in the IoT market has been validated very quickly and future plans are extremely exciting.
