Edison Smart has completed its third annual Selfless Week, bringing our team together for three days of volunteering and community support.
From 29th to 31st July 2026, our team stepped away from their usual roles in global technology recruitment. Instead, they volunteered with two brilliant local organisations: Cold Ash St Mark’s Primary School and The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke.
Selfless Week has become an important part of the Edison Smart calendar. As our business continues to grow globally, we also want to support the communities around us.
What is Edison Smart Selfless Week?
Selfless Week is Edison Smart’s annual volunteering initiative. It gives our employees dedicated time away from work to support charities, schools and community organisations.
Now in its third year, the initiative is an important part of our commitment to giving back.
For Edison Smart Selfless Week 2026, our team supported two local organisations. Some of the team helped with projects at Cold Ash St Mark’s Primary School. Meanwhile, others volunteered with The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke.
Volunteering at Cold Ash St Mark’s Primary School
A large group of the Edison Smart team spent Selfless Week helping Cold Ash St Mark’s Primary School.
The school had a long list of maintenance and improvement projects that needed some extra hands. With school budgets under increasing pressure, these jobs can easily become another demand on stretched resources.
Therefore, our team was more than happy to get involved.
Across the project, the Edison Smart team:
• Painted the school entrance hall
• Painted steps and ledges to improve visibility
• Dismantled two old sheds
• Assembled new play equipment
• Painted the large PE shed and a smaller shed
• Cleaned signs and outdoor equipment
• Jet washed climbing frames
• Replaced blackboards within the school’s willow area
It was certainly a busy few days. However, it was also a brilliant example of the difference businesses can make through employee volunteering.
Sometimes, simply giving people the time to help can make a huge difference.
Supporting The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke
Our Selfless Week 2026 volunteering also took members of the team to The Camrose Centre in Basingstoke.
The Camrose Centre provides vital support for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed within the local community.
During our visit, the team helped prepare and serve lunch. They also spent time speaking with people using the centre. As a result, we learnt much more about the support Camrose provides.
Importantly, its work goes far beyond providing meals.
The centre helps people access healthcare, housing and employment support. In addition, it provides access to addiction support and other essential services.
The centre also runs Women’s Wednesday sessions. These provide a safe and supportive environment for women, including those affected by domestic abuse.
While volunteering, we heard stories about people who had been supported into employment and housing. Hearing these stories gave us a greater understanding of the impact local charities can have.
Why Community Volunteering Matters to Edison Smart

However, being a global business doesn’t mean forgetting what’s happening closer to home.
Our headquarters are based in Basingstoke. Therefore, supporting our local community remains incredibly important to us.
Edison Smart Selfless Week gives our employees an opportunity to step outside their day-to-day roles. Instead, they can contribute their time to organisations that genuinely benefit from an extra pair of hands.
Most importantly, it gives us an opportunity to use something every business has available to give: time.
Three Years of Edison Smart Selfless Week
2026 marks our third annual Selfless Week. As Edison Smart continues to grow, we want the initiative to grow with us.
Over the last three years, our team has taken time away from the office to support local organisations and community projects.
A few days might feel like a relatively small commitment. However, when an entire team gets involved, those hours quickly add up.
We’re incredibly grateful to Cold Ash St Mark’s Primary School and The Camrose Centre for welcoming us during Edison Smart Selfless Week 2026.
Finally, we’re proud of every member of the Edison Smart team who got involved, got their hands dirty and gave their time.
