Edison Smart are actively looking for a Business Development Manager to join a growing Data Center business located in the US.

We’re looknig for an individual with deep experience in building automation controls and a strong track record of winning national or regional accounts. This is a high-travel role requiring extensive client engagement, solution positioning, and technical sales across commercial, institutional, and mission-critical sectors.
You’ll be a strategic hunter and consultative seller who understands how to identify client pain points, design tailored solutions, and build long-term relationships with MEP firms, contractors, and building owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities for building automation and integration solutions nationwide.
  • Build strong relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical/electrical contractors, facility directors, and real estate decision-makers.
  • Lead high-level sales presentations and solution design conversations, backed by strong technical understanding of controls systems.
  • Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, and project teams to ensure successful handoff and delivery.
  • Track and manage sales opportunities through CRM systems, reporting regularly on pipeline and forecasts.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows nationwide.
  • Provide feedback to product and operations teams to improve solutions and customer experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or energy management.
  • Strong working knowledge of DDC systems, protocols (BACnet, Modbus), and integration platforms (e.g., Tridium/Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell, JCI, Schneider, etc.).
  • Proven track record of selling complex solutions in a consultative sales environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively (60–75%) across the U.S., including overnight stays.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills.
  • Self-driven and highly organized, with strong business acumen
