Integrated Building Platform Technician
Location: Sydney
Salary: $100k – $130k + Super, Car
The Role
Reporting to the Customer Account Manager and based in Sydney, the IBP Technician will be responsible for delivering high-level technical services to support integrated building systems across various platforms and protocols. This role plays a key part in MSI delivery by ensuring seamless interoperability between HVAC, lighting, energy, and security systems, with a strong focus on data acquisition and centralised building management using modern API-driven technologies and open protocol.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Manage IBP servers and virtual machines, ensuring performance, security, and backups
- Troubleshoot and optimise system integrations across open protocols, middleware, and APIs
- Maintain Tridium Niagara systems and support Windows Server and Ubuntu environments
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to maximise uptime
- Implement control sequence and configuration updates to meet site/client needs
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams, resolving issues promptly
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practice
What makes you stand out
Successful candidate will demonstrate their similar and proven experience in Master Systems Integration / Integrated Building Platforms or willingness to upskill, an understanding of the challenges of working in a dynamic and fast-growing business, and the following attributes:
- Trade qualifications in electrical, controls, or relevant IT fields
- Restricted electrical license (preferred)
- Experience with Tridium Niagara and other BMS platforms
- Proficiency in open protocols: BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, MQTT, OPC-UA
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, and remote access
- Familiarity with integration tools such as Node-Red and RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux platforms (Ubuntu preferred)
- Certifications or progress towards MSI-aligned training (e.g. Tridium Certified, Niagara 4, KNX, BACnet, Haystack)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, and networks
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both technical and non-technical
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
