Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Data Center Projects
Our leading commissioning agent partner is looking for a Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer to play a critical role in delivering best-in-class electrical systems for mission-critical facilities. You’ll lead and support all electrical aspects of commissioning projects—from initial engagement through design reviews, script development, testing, safety oversight, and final handover to the client.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the commissioning and performance testing of electrical infrastructure.
- Drive safety excellence by ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific protocols.
- Develop, review, and execute detailed electrical test procedures and commissioning scripts.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of test plans, equipment installations, and startup activities.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and design teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Review design documentation, including submittals, one-line diagrams, and schedules, for alignment with design intent and owner’s requirements.
- Support Factory Witness Testing and conduct field inspections to ensure adherence to design and installation standards.
- Provide thorough documentation and reporting, including daily updates and final commissioning reports.
- Engage with clients to ensure project milestones are met and expectations exceeded.
- Conduct facility walk-downs, punch list reviews, and participate in turnover processes.
- Identify opportunities to add value and expand CAI’s service offerings to clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in data center electrical commissioning.
- In-depth understanding of data center electrical systems including:
- Medium and low voltage switchgear
- UPS systems
- ATS units
- Battery systems
- Diesel generators
- Load banks
- Familiarity with power quality analysis tools and techniques.
- Strong ability to interpret schematics and technical specifications.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and their role in electrical commissioning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of LEED commissioning practices is a plus.
