Senior Embedded Software Lead/Manager – 12 Month initial contract – (SpaceTech)

Edison Smart are supporting one of their clients in Luxembourg in the SpaceTech space who are hiring for a Senior Embedded Software Lead/Manager. 

The organization works closely with the EU Space Agency and various defense departments across Europe. The current flagship initiative is a high-profile in-orbit demonstration satellite program, involving multiple payloads.

The role will:

• Lead and manage two software teams (15 people total).
• Oversee agile execution of embedded software projects with a strong focus on timely delivery.
• Work in tandem with the Head of Engineering and Project Manager to resolve project challenges.
• Coordinate with the Finance Director to align technical execution with budgeting and business goals.
• Support or collaborate with a third applications/services team.

 
Candidate Profile Requirements

• Strong embedded software background; preferably with past hands-on coding experience
• Track record of leading complex, time-sensitive software projects.
• Demonstrated project management, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to assess requirements and deliverables in a process-driven, agile environment.

Must have:

• Experience in managing engineering teams (people and project leadership).
• Excellent English communication skills; German is a plus.
• An aerospace/defense background is preferred but not required.
• Business acumen to interact with senior stakeholders and manage budgets.
• Comfort operating in a multinational environment.
• Candidate will be expected to work full-time, onsite in Luxembourg.

 
The incoming person would report to/work closely with:

• Head of Engineering
• Project Manager
• Software Department Head

Role will directly manage:

• System Software Team (responsible for embedded system architecture)
• Embedded Software Development Team (responsible for coding and implementation)

Coordination with:

• Applications & Services Team (not embedded-focused but collaborative)

Logistics

• 12-month initial contract, potential to convert to permanent.
• Relocation support and on-site interview costs will be covered.
