Network Engineering Specialist – Cisco Viptela SD-WAN

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineering Specialist with deep expertise in Cisco Viptela SD-WAN, routing, and switching to join a mission-critical delivery team supporting a leading global bank’s network transformation program.
This role requires a hands-on engineer with proven experience in the design, deployment, and troubleshooting of Cisco Viptela SD-WAN solutions able to work independently, evolve LLDs from HLDs, and deliver directly on-site with the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the deployment of Cisco Viptela SD-WAN across global enterprise environments.
• Take a provided High-Level Design (HLD) and independently create and evolve the Low-Level Design (LLD) for implementation.
• Perform on-site engineering tasks including underlay network configuration, testing, and validation of SD-WAN components.
• Deliver full migration, configuration, and troubleshooting of WAN edge devices and transport networks during go-live.
• Collaborate with network architects, cloud and security teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with broader technology objectives.
• Provide SME-level support during operational issues, particularly during SD-WAN cutovers or migrations.

Core Technical Requirements

• Expertise in Cisco Viptela SD-WAN is mandatory:
  • SD-WAN overlay and underlay architecture
  • vManage, vBond, and vSmart controllers
  • Policy configuration (centralized and localized)
  • Template-based provisioning (feature/device/CLI)
  • WAN edge onboarding, underlay transport configuration
• Strong background in routing and switching:
  • Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, QoS, IPsec, GRE, MPLS, VxLAN
  • Advanced TCP/IP troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Proven experience working independently at client sites to deliver network projects
• Strong troubleshooting experience during migration, underlay configuration, and live deployments
• Solid knowledge of enterprise WAN, LAN, WLAN, and cloud-based connectivity (AWS, Azure)

Certifications Preferred

• Cisco CCNP – Required
• Cisco SD-WAN Specialist (or equivalent) – Highly preferred
• Versa SD-WAN certification (VNX100) – Advantageous

What You Bring

• Minimum 10+ years in network engineering, with at least 3+ years focused on SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela preferred).
• Strong experience in design, implementation, and support of large-scale network infrastructure.
• Comfortable producing and working from detailed LLDs, independently executing deployments on-site.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to own and resolve complex technical issues in real-time.
• Ability to work closely with global teams and adapt in fast-moving, enterprise environments.
