At Edison Smart, we’ve always believed in the power of a healthy mind. This year, during Mental Health Awareness Week, we decided as a company to explore activities that nourish our mental well-being. From meditation sessions to invigorating team walks and unexpectedly challenging Pilates classes! Our week was filled with moments that allowed us to reflect on the importance of mental health.
Discovering the Power of Meditation
Meditation has long been heralded for its benefits in reducing stress and improving mental clarity. Our team eagerly embraced this practice, finding solace and calm in moments of stillness. Guided by the incredible and very calming Jenny Metcalf, we learned techniques to quiet our minds, helping us to better manage the demands of our daily lives.
Team Walks: Connecting with Nature and Each Other
We also all stepped out of the office and into the fresh air, our team walk was a highlight of the week. Our walk not only provided a much-needed break from our screens but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among colleagues. As we strolled together, we shared conversations and laughter, reinforcing the importance of social connections for mental health – and it was great for team bonding!
The Challenge and Joy of Pilates
Pilates, with its focus on controlled movements and strength, was an activity that many of us found surprisingly challenging. However, it also brought immense satisfaction. The physical exertion required helped us to release pent-up stress, and the communal effort continued to strengthen our team spirit. The experience reminded us that pushing our boundaries can lead to personal growth and improved well-being. – We are hoping to have more Pilates time going forward…
Reflecting on What Makes Us Feel Good
Throughout the week, we took time to reflect on what activities and practices made us feel our best. This reflection was crucial, as it allowed us to identify what we need to prioritize in our daily routines to maintain good mental health. Whether it’s continuing with regular meditation, making time for nature walks, or engaging in physical activities like Pilates, we’ve learned that these practices are essential for our mental wellness.
Special Thanks
We are incredibly grateful to Penny Metcalf and Barbora Cepkova for their contributions to our Mental Health Awareness Week. Their expertise and enthusiasm brought a new level of engagement to our activities, making the week even more special.

Extra, extra, special thank you to our team too – without you all being such team players and open to trying new things the week wouldn’t have been such a success!
Prioritize Your Mental Health
As we move forward, we are committed to continuing these practices and making mental health a priority. We encourage everyone to find what makes them feel good and to ensure that these activities become a regular part of their lives. Remember, your mental health matters.
By sharing our experiences, we hope to inspire others to take proactive steps in caring for their mental health. Let’s make every week a Mental Health Awareness Week!
