Senior Firmware Engineer – Ventilation Systems
Salary: $120k – $150k
Location: Raleigh, NC
A leading manufacturer of ventilation systems used in the medical & life sciences sector are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join their team to help them develop a new range of products and to modify their legacy systems to include modern microcontroller architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for ventilation and filtration control systems.
- Lead and contribute to firmware architecture planning, ensuring scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and QA engineers.
- Adapt and improve existing legacy product range to include modern microcontroller architectures.
- Support system integration, debugging, and validation testing of embedded solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
Key Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or another relevant discipline.
- Embedded C/C++
- Good knowledge of RTOS/Linux
- Experience with ARM based microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M series).
- Experience with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Modbus, CAN).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development tools.
Nice to have/non-essential skills:
- Exposure to safety-critical or regulated environments, ideally in medical or life sciences sectors.
- Bare-metal programming
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mind-set.
